The five course modules
1. Foundations of Canine Ethology
Ethology, terminology, domestication, wolf–dog comparisons, outdated dominance ideas, dogs in human families and behavioural development.
2. Canine Body Language and Emotion
Posture, tension, emotional states, communication signals, aggression, fear, conflict behaviour, play and behavioural assessment.
3. Breed, Origins and Individual Differences
The relevance and limitations of breed, FCI breed groups, selective breeding and the journey from wolf to modern dog.
4. How Dogs Learn and Change Behaviour
Conditioning, learning theory, consequences, motivation and a critical look at correction aids and training techniques.
5. Physical Wellbeing, Nutrition and Behaviour
Physical causes of behavioural problems, nutrition, supplements and the relationship between health and behaviour.
