A power or totem animal is an animal that has a very important meaning for us and with which we feel connected throughout our lives. Animals can pass on their power to us in different ways.
1. Messengers from the animal world
These are often animals that appear in our lives to guide us. They give us direction in situations, choices, decisions and activities in which we are involved. They are often only temporarily present and often offer an answer to the theme or question of that moment. Studying their characteristics and behaviour provides clues and insights into how we should act and behave in certain situations. When we have a problem, we can often find an answer by first asking for guidance and then going for a walk in natural surroundings. You may discover one of these messengers when you encounter an animal by chance in your daily life.
2. Personal Power Animals
These are messengers, protectors, teachers and healers. They stay with us for a long or short time. The number of power animals can vary; each animal works and helps us in different areas of our lives. These power animals protect us and offer us strength and insights.
3. Animal amulet or symbolism
Many animals have a unique resistance to certain diseases or a specific defence mechanism. Drawing on that animal’s energy helps us to gain more resistance or to take a position against it. Some animals are archetypal symbols. The snake is such an animal for transformation and healing. When you meditate in times of illness then focus your attention on the snake, seeing it as a symbol of transformation. This will help to speed up the healing process.4. Animal Mirror: By looking at what animals tell us we can learn a lot about ourselves, the animal itself and the relationship between us and the animal. This relates to both our own pets and other animals that cross our path. This method offers a truly holistic view.
